I don’t actually use dry shampoo myself because I don’t use any product in my hair, but Mr Lilee and Miss 4 are regular users of dry shampoo. Mr Lilee uses it to get rid of the product in his hair before bed, and Miss 4 has it in between washes if her hair is looking particularly greasy! They both have brown hair so I have used a recipe for dark hair from Biome. You can add essential oils to this recipe but I didn’t add any because we’re going to use it on a child’s head, you must always be weary of using essential oils neat (without a carrier oil) on children’s skin.
You’ll need a bowl, a spoon and something to dispense the dry shampoo – I found some salt & pepper shakers in a 2 pack in Coles.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Cornstarch
- 2 tbsp Arrowroot
- 2 tbsp Cocoa Powder
- 2 tbsp Moroccan Lava Clay
- 1 tbsp Bi Carb Soda
(For the light hair version, just don’t add the cocoa powder and Moroccan lava clay).
Method
Sieve all of the ingredients together in a bowl and mix. Put the mixture into your container. Done!
Out of these ingredients I filled up the 2 little dispensers and had some left over which I’ve stored in an airtight container.
